Operating system
- macOS 26.0 or later. Earlier versions are not supported.
Hardware
- Apple Silicon (M1 and later) — fully optimized.
- Intel — supported as a universal binary, performance is good but not as snappy as on Apple Silicon.
- Roughly 200 MB of disk space for the app itself, plus a small SQLite cache.
- 2 GB of RAM is plenty.
Permissions requested
SADFinder asks for each of these once at first launch. You can change your mind any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
- Accessibility — required for the window-snapping shortcuts to work globally on any frontmost window.
- Input Monitoring — required so the global shortcuts respond even when SADFinder isn't focused.
- Full Disk Access (optional) — enables browsing
protected paths such as
~/Libraryand/Librarywithout per-folder prompts. - Desktop / Documents / Downloads / Removable / Network Volumes — standard macOS access prompts; click Allow when they appear.
Network
SADFinder makes one network request per week to revalidate your license, plus one when you first activate a Mac. If your computer is offline, the cached validation lets the app keep running for up to 14 days before asking you to reconnect.
Compatible cloud providers
- iCloud Drive (built-in)
- Dropbox
- Google Drive (via Google Drive for desktop)
- OneDrive
- Any provider that registers with the macOS File Provider API
