System requirements

Last updated · May 17, 2026

Operating system

  • macOS 26.0 or later. Earlier versions are not supported.

Hardware

  • Apple Silicon (M1 and later) — fully optimized.
  • Intel — supported as a universal binary, performance is good but not as snappy as on Apple Silicon.
  • Roughly 200 MB of disk space for the app itself, plus a small SQLite cache.
  • 2 GB of RAM is plenty.

Permissions requested

SADFinder asks for each of these once at first launch. You can change your mind any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security.

  • Accessibility — required for the window-snapping shortcuts to work globally on any frontmost window.
  • Input Monitoring — required so the global shortcuts respond even when SADFinder isn't focused.
  • Full Disk Access (optional) — enables browsing protected paths such as ~/Library and /Library without per-folder prompts.
  • Desktop / Documents / Downloads / Removable / Network Volumes — standard macOS access prompts; click Allow when they appear.

Network

SADFinder makes one network request per week to revalidate your license, plus one when you first activate a Mac. If your computer is offline, the cached validation lets the app keep running for up to 14 days before asking you to reconnect.

Compatible cloud providers

  • iCloud Drive (built-in)
  • Dropbox
  • Google Drive (via Google Drive for desktop)
  • OneDrive
  • Any provider that registers with the macOS File Provider API
