Hidden files and extensions solve different problems
A hidden item is intentionally omitted from the normal folder view, often because it stores configuration or system data. A filename extension, such as .jpg or .txt, identifies the file type and may simply be visually suppressed.
Showing hidden items does not make them safe to change. Showing extensions is usually harmless, but changing an extension does not convert the file's actual format.
Keep visibility controls close to the folder
SADFinder includes controls for hidden files and extensions alongside its other folder tools, so you do not have to leave the file browser to change the view.
The same caution applies: reveal system files when you need context, and avoid deleting or renaming items you do not recognize.
